SAS Electrical were called out to see a customer in Tealby who was reporting to be loosing power regularly. When we went out to visit site, we found that it was the 100mA RCD tripping.
We recommended an Electrical Inspection Condition Report to check the condition of the wiring and bring any issues to light. We also pointed out a few upgrades to bring the installation up to current regulations.
Part of bringing the installation up to current regulations was the installation of a new BG Consumer Unit loaded with RCBO’s as seen in the image below. A new cooker circuit was also installed as it was incorrectly wired to the ring final circuit.
When replacing consumer units on older installations SAS Electrical recommend an inspection report (EICR), this flags up any potential issue upon replacement.
When upgrading boards on older installations it is also advisable to use an RCBO loaded board as it keeps all circuits separate, in the event of any electrical faults less electrical items will be affected.
